TOIL Request: Hours
Installing this workflow tells Sense to take every overtime request straight from an employee's profile to their manager for a yes or no, then update their TOIL balance automatically the moment it's approved. Built for organisations that track TOIL in hours rather than whole days.
How it works
Set your TOIL rules in hours then let Sense handle requests
To use the TOIL Request: Hours workflow, simply create a TOIL event with entitlement deduction switched on (naming it exactly "TOIL", with no prefixes or suffixes, so Sense can process it), and make sure your employees already have a TOIL entitlement set up to measure in hours, even at zero.
Then, every time an employee logs overtime with a start time, end time and total duration in hours on their TOIL request screen, Sense will automatically send it to their line manager for approval.
If the request is approved, then the hours logged are added automatically to the employee's TOIL entitlement, on both their dashboard and planner, with no manual entry needed.

What kicks this workflow off?
An employee adding a new overtime record, logged in hours, on their TOIL request screen.
What happens once it fires?
Their line manager gets an email and a to-do to review and authorise it.
Who approves it?
The employee's line manager.
What happens after approval?
The total hours on the form are added automatically to the employee's TOIL entitlement, no manual balance update needed.
Does the TOIL event need a specific name?
Yes. It must be named exactly "TOIL", adding a prefix or suffix like "TOIL request" will stop Sense from processing it.
