How much does a clocking in machine cost?
The Sense Clock costs from £40 a month, on top of your Sense HR plan. Fingerprint and face clocks are priced on a quote, because the cost depends on how many you need and where they go.
Do clocking in machines need wifi?
The Sense Clock does not. It works over mobile data, so there is no wifi to set up and no IT project. We check the mobile signal at your site before you buy, then you fix it to the wall and plug it in.
Will there be queues at the clock at shift change?
Fewer than with a single clock. Staff can scan the Sense Clock code with their own phone, and you can add more clocks at busy doors. With Sense Gateways, AutoClock clocks staff in as they walk through, with nothing to tap.
Can staff clock in if phones are not allowed on the shop floor?
Yes. Staff can tap an ID card on the Sense Clock, use a fingerprint or face clock, or wear a Sense Badge or Tag so AutoClock picks them up at the door.
Can Sense handle night shifts and rotating shift patterns?
Yes. Set each person's work pattern, including nights and rotating shifts, and Sense checks every clock-in against it. Shifts that run past midnight stay together as one shift.
Can Sense work out overtime and breaks automatically?
Yes. Sense applies your rules for overtime, lateness and breaks to every clock-in, and flags anything unusual for a manager to approve before the hours go to payroll.
How does Sense stop buddy clocking?
The Sense Clock shows a one-use code, and each account works on one phone only, so nobody can clock in for a colleague. For extra checks, add a fingerprint or face clock, or use the fingerprint reader on the Sense Badge.
Is fingerprint clocking in legal in the UK?
Yes, if you follow UK GDPR. You need a lawful basis, a data protection impact assessment, and another way to clock in for anyone who says no, such as a card or the app. Our guide to fingerprint clocking in explains the rules.
Does Sense work with our payroll?
Yes. Sense sends verified hours to Sage, Xero, BrightPay and PayCaptain, and to any other payroll by export, including outsourced payroll. Managers approve the hours first, so payroll only gets hours that have been checked.
How does fire roll call work?
Sense knows who has clocked in, so a fire marshal can start a roll call from the clock-in list and mark people safe at the assembly point. You can see straight away who is still missing.
