Custom Screen Approval (Manager Authorisation)
Installing this workflow tells Sense to send every new record an employee submits on a custom table screen to their line manager for a decision, using a Manager Authorisation field on the screen itself. If the employee also has a Secondary Manager set on their Job Details screen, that person is notified as well, so approval sits with management rather than HR admins.
How it works
Build your Manager Authorisation screen then let Sense route submissions to the employee's manager
To use the Custom Screen Approval (Manager Authorisation) workflow, simply build a table screen with the three required fields, Date of Request, Manager Authorisation, and Authorisation Comments, and set up an "Authorisation" variant where the Manager Authorisation field is editable and required.
Then, every time an employee submits a new record, Sense will automatically notify their line manager, and their secondary manager too if one is set on the Job Details screen, with an email and a Todo.
If a manager marks the record approved or declined, then the employee gets an email with the outcome.

What kicks this workflow off?
An employee submitting a new record on a custom table screen you've built for manager sign-off.
Who approves the request?
The employee's direct manager. If a Secondary Manager is set on their Job Details screen, that person is notified too.
How is this different from the Admin Authorisation version?
Approval sits with the employee's manager, and secondary manager where one is set, rather than with HR admins, and the screen uses a Manager Authorisation field instead of an HR Authorisation field.
What fields does the screen need?
Three case sensitive fields: "Date of Request" (date picker), "Manager Authorisation" (approve/decline radio buttons), and "Authorisation Comments" (paragraph or rich text), plus an "Authorisation" variant with the Manager Authorisation field set to edit and required.
What happens once a decision is made?
The employee receives an email confirming whether the record was approved or declined.
