Mid-Year Review Workflow (4 Steps)

PerformanceReviewsMid-Year

Installing this workflow tells Sense to run a fuller, four-step mid-year review: after the employee's self-assessment and their manager's feedback, both sides come back for a second pass, the employee reviews and signs off on what their manager wrote, then the manager adds final comments and closes it out.

How it works

Set up your Mid-Year Review screen then let Sense run all four stages

  1. To use the Mid-Year Review Workflow (4 Steps), simply install it from the Workflow Hub, which adds a Mid-Year Review screen with four screen variants (EmployeeFirst, ManagerFirst, EmployeeSecond and ManagerSecond) to your Employee Profile template.

  2. Then, every time you select employees and choose 'Start Mid-year review', Sense will automatically send each employee five questions on their goals, collaboration, challenges, learning and adjustments for the rest of the year, pass their answers to their manager to respond to, send the manager's feedback back to the employee to review and sign off, then route it to the manager for a final round of comments and sign-off.

  3. If an employee has more than one manager, then all of them are notified but only one needs to action each step.

Common questions

What kicks this workflow off?

An admin selecting employees and choosing 'Start Mid-year review'.

How is this different from the 2-step version?

The 2-step version stops once the manager has reviewed and signed off. This version adds two further stages: the employee reviews and signs off on the manager's feedback, then the manager adds a final round of comments and signs off, giving both sides a chance to close the loop.

Who gets notified?

Employees get an email and to-do task at the start, and again once their manager submits initial feedback. Managers are notified when the employee completes each of their sections. Employees with more than one manager have all their managers notified, though only one needs to complete each step.

Can we edit the questions?

Yes, through the Screen Designer. Because this version relies on four screen variants, any change needs to be mirrored across all four so the right fields stay editable or view-only at each stage.
