Custom Expense Requests (Manager Approval)
Installing this workflow tells Sense to take every expense claim an employee logs on a custom Expenses screen and send it straight to their line manager for sign-off. Built for organisations that want a fully customisable expense screen with managers, not Admins, making the final call.
How it works
Set your Expenses screen then let Sense route claims to the line manager
To use the Custom Expense Requests (Manager Approval) workflow, simply deploy it from the Workflow Hub, which adds an Expenses screen to each employee's profile with Employee and Manager screen variants, set up so employees can only add new records.
Then, every time an employee adds a new expense record on their Expenses screen (from their web profile or the mobile app's My Profile tile), Sense will automatically send it to their line manager as an email and a to-do to review.
If the manager approves or declines it, then the employee gets a confirmation email with any comments, and if it's sent back for resubmission, then they get a task to edit and resubmit it.

What kicks this workflow off?
An employee adding a new expense record on their Expenses screen.
Who approves the claim?
The employee's line manager.
What happens if a claim is sent back for resubmission?
The employee gets a confirmation email plus a task to edit and resubmit the request.
Can I run this alongside the mobile Expenses feature?
It's best not to. The two use different data sources, so running both at once can lead to inconsistent reporting.
