Event Authorisation Workflow – Dual Approval (Manager & Admins)

ApprovalsCalendar

Installing this workflow tells Sense to route every event request through two approval stages in a fixed order: the employee's line manager first, and only once they approve does it move on to the admins. Either stage can turn a request down, and the employee finds out straight away with the reason.

How it works

Set your Manager-then-Admin approval order then let Sense enforce it on every request

  1. To use the Event Authorisation Workflow – Dual Approval (Manager & Admins), simply ask support to switch your account onto this workflow.

  2. Then, every time an employee submits an event request from their calendar, Sense will automatically send it to their line manager first.

  3. If the manager approves, then it's sent on to all admins, any one of whom can give the final decision, and the employee is emailed the outcome either way.

Common questions

What kicks this workflow off?

An employee submitting an event request from their calendar.

Who approves the request, and in what order?

The line manager decides first. Only if they approve does the request move on to the admins, any one of whom can give the final approval or rejection.

What happens if the manager declines?

The workflow ends there. The employee gets an email with the manager's reason, and admins are never notified.

Are there cases where no approval is needed?

Yes. Requests are auto-approved when an admin books the event for another employee, when a manager adds an event for their own direct report, or when an admin has no manager of their own.

Does switching to this workflow affect requests already in progress?

No. Moving to this workflow only affects requests submitted after the change; anything already pending follows the standard approval rules.
